We found most of the restaurants around Symphony Hall to be closed at 6:00 when we arrived. A few were open a block away, including the 6th Avenue Bistro, where we found a table outside in a partially sheltered, narrow patio. After a long, 30-35 minute wait for our dinner to arrive, we found it to be worth the wait. My muffeleta was perfect, and Scott enjoyed his gumbo (mmm, he gave me one of his crawdads) and half of Susan's French dip sandwich. He said he couldn't stop eating it. Bob had the dip too. They gave us free bread pudding and whipped cream for dessert, but we weren't able to eat much of it after stuffing ourselves silly.
Despite the slow start at the bistro, we arrived in our seats several minutes early for the Cole Porter De-Lovely concert by the Symphony, with Marvin Hamlisch directing and guest vocalist/pianist, Michael Feinstein.
