Early Voting

For various reasons, we went to the Registrar of Voters in San Diego County today for early voting. Matt and Jess has classes all day on Tuesday in Irvine. Scott and Susan are heading to LA Tuesday for a follow-up to his surgery. I'm giving a chemistry exam on Tuesday evening. So early voting seemed like a good idea as we started the 15-minute drive south from our house at about 1:00 pm on Sunday. Our plan was to take a few minutes voting, then head down to pick up Susan's dad and have a nice birthday dinner for Matt at Miguel's Cantina in the Point Loma area. We figured we'd be home around 4 at the latest.

We arrived to find a line of cars waiting to get into the parking lot. Upon arriving at the gate after a 10-15 minute wait, we were told that the parking lot was full, so we U-turned and parked across the street. We ended up waiting for about 4-5 hours in the registrar building's long hallway where they were storing all of the ballots that were to be shipped to the polling places in a couple of days. It was worth the wait.

(added after the election:)

Thank God that Barack Obama won the election.
